Notes for the Esoteric Sound Group Meeting
15 March 2008
Esoteric Sound Group 3
Saturday 15th Mar 08
Notes by Elizabeth and Rob Skinner
The evening started with Chris singing, rather than talking, us through a meditation connecting us to the gentle breath.
We begin with a meditation with Chris toning and singing.
We are invited to connect with our gentle breath, thus allowing the body to
be without imposition. And to feel the rhythm of our breath – which when
allowed will naturally express with a gentle in-breath, pause, gentle
out-breath and another pause before breathing again. Connecting to this
rhythm can allow a whole new way of being to unfold. The only thing stopping
us is our mind.
We are invited to begin to tone ourselves with mouths shut (hum) and just to
feel the resonance within our bodies.
This evolves to dropping the jaw and making a round shape with our mouths,
again feeling the resonance of the sound within our bodies.
We then open our mouths wide and allow the sound to emanate and become
enveloped in the sound from both within and externally.
We are offered three simple harmonies around a pentatonic scale and invited
to chose a harmony and sing along to Chris’ lead.
We finish this with our hands on our hearts and feel the effect of the
exercise within us.
Chris asks us if we have done our homework from the last workshop, that is,
to go through our old music collection and listen to them using the ears of
our heart.
Someone offered that music was putting her into old emotions. She said that
she felt centred after as session with Serge but listening to her old music
was slowly drawing her into old emotions. Chris offers that musicians felt
that it was there job to take you on an emotional journey with their music
and that music was all about emotions.
Someone else offered that they have been listening to their old CDs and
found that Jimmy Hendrix CDs were very depressive music. Chris offers that
all the energy of the drugs and what ever else Jimmy and the musicians were
into would be coming through in the music.
Another lady asks if “listening to light music is ok.” Chris replies that
no, light music may still be emotional and can shift you from your
stillness. It makes no difference if the music is light, loud or soft it is
the energy that it has been laced with that is the issue.
A lady asks about the Beethoven and Mozart she has been listening to and
said that it felt the same as always. Chris suggested that she was listening
with her head rather than with her heart. Listening with the head rather
than the heart will never allow you to discern the energy coming through the
music. By listening to music from a place of gentleness and stillness, it
becomes easy to discern the music that creates a disturbance within the body
and stimulates a mental or emotional response.
It was offered by another that Mozart made their mind busy and increased the
activity of their intellectual mind.
The true responsibility of the musician is for the way they live and the
energy that comes through their music.
Chris offers that with the knowledge of his responsibility, he withdrew all
his old CDs as he felt that the energy of the CDs was harming rather than
healing. Some of the CDs actually intended as chakra balancing, which caused
havoc. Anything to stimulate the lower three chakras was very harmful.
Chris suggested that the chakras have been covered in some of his notes in
the past and could be found on his website. The issue of the chakras is a
huge topic and we will have a discussion about them at another time.
Chris breaks us into groups of three, gathers us around the front of the
hall and hands out a sheet with the word of a new song ‘Celebration’. ( note from cj this will be on the new album “walk with your heart”)
Celebration
Together in stillness
Joining in union
In joy and harmony
Knowing truth
Being ourselves, together
In the stillness
We are one
And we know
There is, no separation
In the one
In the inner heart
And we know
There is, no separation
With the one
In the inner heart
We begin by gentle mouth in a round shape ‘OOOS’ to the harmony while Chris
played the keyboard and led. We evolve this to mouth open ‘AAAS’ and
continue to gain confidence with the new song.
We then begin to sing each verse and Chris encourages us to really claim the
words for ourselves. This has a dramatic effect on the group.
We all joyfully sing through the song a few times allowing the words and
harmonies to resonate within us.
Chris then sings us another new song ‘what are you waiting for’. We then
join in with harmonies as he sings. We are encouraged to let go and really
express from the heart. This is a very joyful experience and the group finds
a great harmony.
We are now invited to learn the new song written for the Eureka primary
school, ‘we can feel the way’.
We can feel
We can see
We can be
We can feel the way
The group is encouraged to let go with our bodies and enjoy the expression
of movement as we are singing this very joyful and simple song.
Our homework for next time is to again go through our CD collections and from a
place of stillness, feel with our hearts the energy that comes through them.
And now we are asked to start feeling our natural rhythms.
( By this I mean surrendering the flow of the breath to the point where every in breath and every out breath is impulsed from a place of divine stillness and not from the mind. The experience of surrendering to this point is the foundation of clarity that you will express from.)
Next ESG April 12, 2008.
